We Believe . . .

We believe that there is only one true and living God, who exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, and He alone is holy and worthy of all our praise. (Dt. 6.4; Gen. 1.1; Mt. 28.19; Ps. 24.1-2; Ps. 33.6-9)

We believe that the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, perfect in its original manuscripts and providentially preserved for us today through thousands of existing copies. (2 Tm. 3.16-17; 2 Pt. 1.20-21; Is. 40.8; Mt. 5.17-20, 24.35)

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal and sinless Son of God, who was born into our world through a virgin named Mary. He died on a cross for our sins and rose again on the third day. He is coming again soon to reign as “King of kings and Lord of lords,” and all who trust in Him will be raised from the dead to live with Him forever in His Kingdom. (Jn. 1.1-5, 14; Col. 1.15-19; Is. 7.14; Mt. 1.23; Lk. 1.35; 1 Cor. 15.3-4; Jn. 14.1-3; 1 Th. 4.16-18; 1 Cor. 15.50-58)

We believe that God created all men and women equal in His image and gave them dominion over everything He created in this world. Yet because of Adam’s original sin, the world and all of humanity is under the curse of sin. All men and women, therefore, are inherently sinful and in desperate need of salvation through the grace of God in Jesus Christ. (Gen. 1.26-28; Rm. 5.12; Ps. 51.5-6; Prov. 22.15; Rm. 3.23; 6.23)

We believe that Heaven and Hell are literal places. All who trust in Jesus Christ for their salvation will live with Him forever in Heaven, but all who reject Him will spend eternity in Hell apart from Him with Satan and his demons. (Jn. 14.1-3; Lk. 16.19-31; Dan. 12.2-3)

We believe that the church is a loving fellowship of baptized believers who serve one another and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the entire world. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself is the head of the church, and all its members belong to Him and are accountable to Him. Moreover, the church is His body, carrying out His work in the world today. The pastor and the deacons are to submit themselves to His authority and lead the church according to His will. (Ac. 1.8; 2.41-42; Mt. 28.18-20; Eph. 4.11-16; Col. 1.18; 1 Cor. 1.12-14; 1 Tm. 3.1-13)

We believe The Baptist Faith and Message (2000) is a concise and accurate summary of the teachings of the Word of God
